Green Movement

The North West CDC has embarked on a 3-tiered Green Plan in line with the Singapore Green 2012 initiative that targets at the School, Community and National levels.

The 3 major objectives of the CDC Green Plan are:

Partner - To strengthen the 3-P partnership (public, private and people sectors) on environmental protection projects.

Innovative Projects - To provide opportunities for students and the community to organise innovative environmental protection projects.

	Education - To increase awareness of students and the community on 'Sustainable Development' e.g. energy conservation, waste management, pollution control and other green activities, etc.

Green@School
All primary and secondary schools within the North West district are encouraged to form Green Clubs. To date, 52 Green Clubs consisting of about 1400 members have been established.

Funding for Green Club projects at the school level are provided by the CDC. Each club will work on at least one green project annually as a Co-Curriculum Activity (CCA).

The North West CDC�s Green@Schools Programme had provided an informative channel for the green club members. Through a series of green talks, tours, camps, gatherings and exhibitions organised for green club members, environmental awareness and enthusiasm increased among the students and teachers.


Green@Community At the community level, partnerships between private (companies), public (government organisations) and people sectors (grassroots organisations and schools) have been formed to work on environmental projects. A Community Green Fund has been set up to support 3-P projects. Through this, the North West CDC hopes to encourage more 3-P projects.

Green@Singapore
Through the fundamental network of Grassroots Organizations and Green Clubs, the CDC will support national campaigns like Clean and Green Week, Litter Free Campaign, Earth Day and World Environment Day to promote the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development to all residents within the North West district.
